What a Wonderful Web!
Two years ago if anyone told me I would become a webmaster I would have said, impossible! Now in the year two noughts (2000) I must confess with inflated ego that indeed I am, and loving it. Therefore I would like to take the opportunity to thank the world and its web, and all the wonderful people who put their work there for all to share. Two years ago I did not own a computer and I couldn't type. I learnt to as I was constructing my website, with a computer game a friend gave me, and as I liked the game, I frantically kept letters dropped by aliens on a skyscrapers scope from destroying the city. After a while I found I could actually type without looking for each alphabet, which had kept me almost monosyllabic in chat rooms that interested me, although I haven't had time to visit any lately now that I can type a little. Now that I've learnt that today <http://www.Copernic2000.com> has placed us 1st. in our category,'Dhamma' listed by top scores this August 16 2000, one year, four months and seven days since we came online, I am overwhelmed by gratitude. Not to Copernic 2000 in particular although certainly in part, but to everyone who has helped us achieve this absolutely undreamt of honor. Particularly the persons who invented the web, whose names in my great ignorance I have yet to find out. But first and foremost I respectfully thank the teachers whose knowledge I tried to make available on the web and who gave me a new life, filled with knowledge; my parents who taught me that nothing is impossible; and the friends who believed in me against all odds, in particular those who taught me all I know about computers and constructing web pages using the proper language; as well as all our viewers whose feedback has helped us correct our mistakes and make our site what it is today. Specifically I would like to express especially my gratitude to all the free sites on the web, offering everything you need to make a top ranking, non profit making website gratis, if you just searched in the right places. As I am a volunteer myself, I am overjoyed at the great talents generously sharing fabulous gifts of technical knowledge and photography, breathtaking backgrounds and graphics, animations and artwork, if you only took the time to look for it and obeyed simple rules. I am so glad to have been born in an age where all this is made possible, and that children of this age are able to profit from our work, as I hope future generations will continue to. Indeed it is a wonderful world wide web!
PS. I just realized all this seems tritely familiar somehow but the gratitude is of the sincerest!
